The 2026 Oscar nominations are here: who is leading the race
Ready, set, action: the Oscar race has officially begun.
Actors Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman announced the nominees for the 98th Academy Awards at 5:30 a.m. PT on Thursday, well before dawn at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences headquarters in Beverly Hills.
Some 317 films were eligible for consideration in the awards’ 24 competitive categories, including the Best Supporting Oscar for the first time this year.
Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” a rich supernatural saga set in the Jim Crow South, broke all-time Oscar records with 16 nominations.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s unforgiving political thriller “One Battle After Another” followed with 15 nominations.
The 98th Oscars will take place on March 15 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, and comedian Conan O’Brien will return as host for the second year in a row.
