‘I am a spinal surgeon here how your posture is killing your back’

In a world of sitting in desks and falls in front of the screens, it is known that back pain is the most common ailment among Americans.

Dr. Arthur L. Jenkins III, a neurosurgeon certified by the Board in New York, which is also trained in a circle in the spine and CEO of Jenkins Neuropine, blamed the soft and bad posture of the serious effects on the back.

The bad posture stretches the column in a way that “it is not really designed to do so,” Jenkins said in an interview with News Digital.

Only 1 in 10 back pain treatments, says the study: what to do in place

“We are much better than we sat,” he said. “And we find more people who have that pain when they are working or when they have been sitting for a while, it is just a terrible position for our thorns.”

Risks of ‘Technological Neck’

“Tech Neck”, or an excessive posture forward, is caused by looking at devices, including phones and laptops, said the expert.

Being in this “suboptimal” position while sitting for long periods of time can be harmful.

“At night, many people [watch] TV … And his chin is hidden, “Jenkins said.” Most people do not put televisions on their roofs. “

This position can lead to a condition called kyphosis, where the column front is tense and the additional pressure lands on the discs.

This posture also extends and pulls the muscles of the lower back, since they are forced to “stretch and give,” Jenkins said.

“All muscles are designed to be stronger when your spine is in its optimal position,” he said. “Once you leave the optimal position, your muscles have to work more to maintain that.”

Tips to avoid back pain

For those who work in front of the screens all day, Jenkins recommends standing up often and stretching the body to maintain the “lubricated and active” joints.

It can help use a standing desk, raise the highest computer monitor to promote an elevated angle of the chin and neck, or sit on an exercise ball instead of a desk chair, he advised.

Ask a doctor: “Is it dangerous to break my neck or back?”

Even while he was sitting on the couch, Jenkins said it is better to sit down, avoid hovering and change position from time to time.

Isolating and flexing back muscles and AB can also help promote healthy muscles and avoid back pain.

“Find ways to be more aware during the day of involving your nucleus,” Jenkins advised. “While you are sitting there, squeeze the abdominal and back muscles.”

Ask a doctor: ‘How can I improve my posture?’

“Even if you don’t make a formal squat, if you just spend five minutes pressing your nucleus while you work, that’s better than doing nothing at all.”

Maintaining flexibility, especially with age, can also help prevent back pain.

Jenkins recommends committing to a physical conditioning routine that “talks about their problems” while strengthening the nucleus and extends the muscles, such as yoga or pilates.

Jenkins also warned people who avoid “BLT”, or fold, raise and twist everything at once, which is a great taxpayer to back pain.

“You should always try to break your flexion, lift and twist in individual components … You should never bend, lift and twist at the same time,” he instructed.

“When you get up, it actively involves your nucleus. Think about tightening your nucleus while you raise anything.”

A new study by Italy, published in Healthcare magazine, found that a kinesiology -based method can be effective in treating low back pain.

By pointing out that low back pain is the main cause of disability worldwide, the researchers introduced the Canali postural method (CPM) to a group of individuals for three months.

CPM, which is a personal kinesiological therapy to reprogram the posture, showed promising to improve motor control and quality of life, and suggested “potential benefits for other musculoskeletal problems,” the study found.

Although the international study only included 35 participants, Jenkins said the results talk about the effectiveness of a “very structured position exercise regime.”

“It’s quite simple that more support is better,” he said.

“Kinesiology, chiropractic or simply general physiotherapy, or pilates, or yoga, it is likely that any of these interventions provide more support for the person’s back and a better pain relief than they trying to solve it for themselves.”

When to see a doctor

Jenkins recommend seeing a professional if back pain persists and prevents commitment in normal activities.

It is also better to seek medical attention if pain does not decrease after trying the exercise, therapy or anti -inflammatory medications.

According to Jenkins, any emerging sign that the surface, such as severe pain, worsened equilibrium or the function of the harmed bladder or intestine should immediately approach immediately by a doctor.
