Donald Trump is authoritarian in a new attack against the Democratic Party

President Donald Trump issued a memorandum on Thursday that ordered the Department of Justice to investigate the political fundraising platforms online with the intention of attacking the Fund Collection Platform of the Actblue Democratic Party.

The Memorandum specifically mentions Actblue while using a broader language to order an investigation into “online fund collection platforms.”

This is the last of a series of specific Trump attacks against their perceived enemies, including law firms, non -profit organizations and former government officials. This, however, is the first time that it points to a part of the machinery of the Democratic party. Trump is the clearest effort to use the power of the presidency to destabilize and limp its political opposition. This follows their actions to eliminate or delegitimize all civil society entities that oppose or could oppose it.

Trump ordered the DOJ to open an investigation into whether online political fundraising platforms, that is, Actblue, facilitated the contributions of straw donors and foreign donors in the campaign committees of Democratic candidates and party candidates. This follows the separate investigations of the Republicans of the Congress and the state general prosecutors who allege that Actblue had weak anti -brain measures that helped to facilitate potentially fraudulent donations to democratic campaigns and organizations, but did not accuse the platform of violating any law.

Calling the memorandum a “shameless attack on democracy in the United States,” Actblue said in a statement that “would seek all legal routes to protect and defend against the unfounded statements of the administration.”

“Today’s climbing of the White House is blatantly illegal and must be seen for what is: Donald Trump’s last front in his campaign to eliminate all political, electoral and ideological opposition,” says Actblue’s statement. “This administration continues to put together the instruments of federal power in an assault unprecedented to our democracy.”

The organization also requested “the entire Democratic Party and all Americans who adopt the value of civic participation to join and create a blue wall against the oppressive use of power by this White House and its accomplices in Congress.”

It is illegal for non -American citizens to donate political campaigns and parties, although they can donate non -profit organizations provided that this money is not spent on US elections. It is also illegal for a person to donate to a campaign or political part on behalf of another person. Despite being accused of facilitating these illegal fraudulent donations, accusations against Actblue have not been corroborated.

Trump’s Memorandum Memorandum Actblue does not accuse him of violating any law. On the other hand, it is based on the fraud that the platform itself discovered and stopped as evidence to launch an investigation.

“A recent investigation by the House of Representatives revealed that a platform called Actblue had detected in recent years at least 22 ‘significant fraud campaigns’, almost half had a foreign link,” says the memorandum. “During a 30 -day window during the 2024 campaign, the platform detected 237 donations of foreign IP addresses using prepaid cards, indicating that this activity remains a pressing concern.”

Actblue was launched in 2004 as an intermediate platform that connected donors with political campaigns. For the next 20 years, it became the main platform used by almost all politicians and committees of the Democratic Party to increase political contributions. Donors can also donate to various causes through the platform donating non -profit organizations. Actblue reports raised more than $ 16 billion for Democratic candidates, party committees and other causes in the 21 years since its foundation.

The investigations led by the Republican Party and, now, the investigation of the DOJ ordered by Trump in Actblue began after the right -wing expert Charlie Kirk promoted a donation spreadsheet reported to the Federal Electoral Commission that sought to show fraudulent donations made through Actblue. That spreadsheet, however, was a product of a misunderstanding or a misunderstanding that does not know How political committees report donations to FEC.

Winred, the counterpart of the Republican Party of Actblue, has not faced Republican investigations or Trump’s executive orders despite the reports they show that faces similar problems with fraud detection.

The Democrats assaulted Trump’s order so that the Department of Justice investigated Actblue after the memorandum fell.

“Donald Trump’s Memorandum Orientation Act House retailer (minor NY) (Kany leader, minor leader Chuck Ny (Nych Chuck Ny (Chuck Ny (Ny Chuck Ny (Chuck Ny) Hakeem Jeffries (NY), he said. “He knows that Americans are already fed up with his chaotic agenda that is moving away from the economy of a cliff Block the basic legal donations of supporters who give only $ 5 or $ 10 to candidates who oppose it while even more empowering the corrupt billionaires who already control their administration. “

“Today’s presidential decree aimed at the campaign infrastructure of the Democratic Party with precisely zero evidence of irregularities is the type of edict that would expect from a dictator of power in a banana republic,” said Jamie Raskin, a member of the Judicial Committee of the Chamber, Jamie Rankin (D-Md.). “This president, with his underwater approval ratings and sinking as a stone, desperately seeks to undermine his political opposition by reducing his access to funds.”
