Natalie Portman criticized President Donald Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Immigration and Customs Enforcement following the shooting death of ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minnesota.
“I’m getting emotional because it’s really been… it’s such a horrible day. It’s been a horrible week,” the Oscar-winning actor said Saturday before the premiere of his film “The Gallerist” at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. the hill reported.
“What is happening in our country is simply obscene,” he added.
Portman also condemned the Trump administration for the deadly immigration crackdown.
“What Trump, Kristi Noem and ICE are doing to our citizens and undocumented people is outrageous and must end,” he said.

Portman made the comments hours after Pretti, 37, was shot and killed by Border Patrol agents on Saturday in Minneapolis. On January 7, an ICE agent also shot and killed Renee Good, 37, in Minneapolis, sparking protests across the United States.
In a separate interview with Variety, Portman wore an “ICE Out” pin to criticize the administration and said immigration raids must end.
“But there is also a beautiful community that Americans are showing right now. They are standing up for each other, protecting each other and fighting for their freedom,” he said. “It is a bittersweet moment to celebrate [our film ‘The Gallerist’ that] “We are very proud in the context of our nation suffering.”
