US Olympic gold medalist Sha’Carri Richardson arrested for speeding in latest legal fight

U.S. Olympic sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested for speeding after allegedly driving more than 100 mph in Florida on Thursday.
Authorities said Richardson was driving 104 mph and dangerously passing other motorists on the road.
It’s the latest controversy in a growing series of off-court problems for the American gold medalist.
In August, Richardson was arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, fellow American sprinter Christian Coleman, at the Seattle Tacoma airport.

Security footage of the incident showed Richardson approaching Coleman from outside the frame and appearing to grab his backpack from behind. Richardson appeared to interrogate Coleman and shoved him before shoving him against a wall, later shoving him.

The two appeared to exchange words as they walked toward security, with Richardson still pushing him and appearing to reach for his face.
Coleman refused to pursue the case, according to a police report.
In January 2023, Richardson was kicked off a plane after a dispute with a flight attendant who she said spoke to her in a disrespectful manner.

In 2021, Richardson was banned from competing in the Tokyo Olympics after he tested positive for THC, a chemical found in marijuana. She accepted a one-month suspension from the United States Anti-Doping Agency, making her ineligible for the 100 meters. She was also not selected for the 4×100 relay team.
The sprinter made her Olympic debut at Paris 2024, winning gold in the women’s 4×100 meters relay and silver in the 100 meters.
