The fake Melania Trump only needed 1 joke to explain what her documentary is really about

Unlike the real thing Melania TrumpLaura Benanti’s fake Melania knows how to get to the point with just a few very funny words.

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Late Show,” host Stephen Colbert played a clip of the royal first lady trying to explain what her new documentary, titled simply “Melania,” is about at its premiere in Washington, DC last week.

“Some have called this a documentary,” Trump says in the clip. “It is not. My film is a very deliberate act of authorship, inviting you to witness events and emotions through a window of rich images.”

He added: “It is a created experience that offers perspectives, insights and moments that only a few have seen.”

“…That?” Colbert said of Trump’s word salad.

Needing a little more clarity, Colbert turned to Benanti’s impression of Trump, a character the Broadway veteran played on “The Late Show.” since 2016. Benanti’s version of the first lady told him clearly.

But first, the Tony winner mocked Trump’s purple prose.

“Yes, ‘Melania’: The Lady. The Movie. The Movie,” Benanti began, before mocking the way the first lady pronounces the word “movie.”

“This film It is a deliberate window of tapestries placed on a rich framework of ideas that are so authorial that few have ever seen it and even fewer have wanted to.”

The last part of his joke appears to be a reference to the terrible movie reviews “Melania” has received.

“Wow,” Colbert said. “That’s a lot of words. But can you really tell us what the movie is about?”
