Tina Knowles saw writing on the wall, and now, she is opening on why she chose to place her daughters, Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, in therapy when they were children.

While Talking to Oprah Winfrey On Friday, the author of “Matriarch” reflected on her decision to find therapy for her daughters during a time when she was considered widely conventional.

“I think this is so interesting that you put your daughters in therapy at a very early age, at a time when it was considered taboo, especially in the black community,” Winfrey said.

Winfrey said that one of Tina Knowles’s brothers believed that her “crazy” daughters would make them participate in the therapy, but the mother had a different mentality.

He pointed out that this behavior was completely unknown, and faced the harmony he had always imagined for his daughters. According to Knowles, the change occurred after Beyoncé began to act and was becoming what he described as a “local star.”

In the end, Knowles said that choosing the therapy was “the best” that “could have done for them”, because the sisters finally “approached again” and “Beyoncé began to respect Solange.”
