There will surely be discipline from the NBA for Monday night’s massive brawl between the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets, and one player will be out for a long time.
Pistons center Isaiah Stewart, who ran off the bench to fight with Hornets forward Miles Bridges, received a seven-game suspension for his role in the fight.
Bridges and Hornets teammate Moussa Diabaté each received four-game suspensions, while Pistons center Jalen Duren was suspended two games for starting the altercation and fight.

The NBA issued a longer suspension to Stewart for “leaving the bench area, aggressively entering an altercation on the court and fighting.”
“The length of Stewart’s suspension is based in part on his repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts,” the league’s statement on the matter added.

The four players mentioned were ejected Monday night at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center after the wild brawl in the third quarter.
The incident began when Duren backed up Diabaté in the paint, and Diabaté fouled him with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter. But the two immediately clashed, with Diabate pressing his head against Duren, triggering everything.
Duren shoved Diabaté in the face, and despite players on both sides trying to break things up, the usually mild-mannered Diabaté continued searching for Duren.

Pistons veteran Tobias Harris was restraining Diabaté when Diabaté threw a punch at Duren, aggravating the situation. As Duren walked away, Bridges got involved and landed his own left-handed jab at Duren. The Pistons forward took revenge with his own hit.
Then, with numerous players on the court at the time, Stewart ran from the Pistons’ bench to confront Bridges and throw a punch.
Tempers eventually calmed down, but the expulsions did not stop after that. In the fourth quarter, Hornets coach Charles Lee was ejected from the game and had to be restrained after yelling at the officials following a foul when his player, Grant Williams, collided with the Pistons’ Paul Reed.
