Canadian ice dancers Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier have gone viral after performing what social media users are calling a “crazy” and “incredible save” to avoid a potentially costly wardrobe malfunction.

Right towards the end of their rhythmic dance at the Milan 2026 Cortina Winter Olympics, Poirier’s wristband came loose and caught on Gilles’ tights. In the middle of the high-energy performance, set to RuPaul’s “Supermodel (You Better Work)” and Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy,” Gilles grabbed the bracelet and held it until he finished the routine, preventing it from falling to the ice.

If the handcuff had fallen, the couple would have lost a point.

That would have knocked them out of their bronze medal position and elevated British rivals Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson to the podium.

Gilles and Poirier will return to the ice on Wednesday for the free dance.

Previously, the duo placed seventh at Beijing 2022 and eighth at PyeongChang 2018. They took silver at the 2024 and 2025 World Championships.
