Bijou Phillips asks for help finding a kidney donor while waiting for transplant
Bijou Phillips made an urgent appeal to her fans this week, asking them for help finding a kidney donor.
The “Raising Hope” actress shared an emotional post on Instagram on Wednesday in which she revealed that she was currently hospitalized in Los Angeles and needed a kidney transplant.
“I need help finding a new kidney,” he wrote. “I’m asking this as a friend, sister, aunt, and most importantly, a single mother of an amazing, brave daughter. I need a kidney.”
Elsewhere in his post, Phillips explained that he was born with underdeveloped kidneys. She underwent a transplant in 2017 after receiving the “incredible gift of a kidney from a dear friend,” but has since experienced a series of health problems that “led to cellular and antibody rejection.”
“Please help me find a living donor so I can spend more time with my daughter, my family and my friends,” she wrote. “Time is of the essence.”
News reached out to an agent for Phillips for further clarification but did not immediately receive a response. TMZ, however, reported Thursday that more than 1,000 potential kidney donors had come forward as a result of the actor’s post, but that doctors had not yet determined a match.

Meanwhile, her half-sisters Chynna Phillips and Mackenzie Phillips had visited her in the days since she was first hospitalized, the report said.
Phillips is the daughter of the late musician John Phillips, a founding member of the legendary 1960s pop group the Mamas & the Papas. She shares an 11-year-old daughter, Fianna Francis, with her ex-husband Danny Masterson.
Masterson, a fellow actor best known for his portrayal of Steven Hyde on “That ’70s Show,” is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping two women.
Phillips’ health concerns first came to light in 2017, when the actor publicly shared that he had been on a kidney transplant list for about five years.
“In an effort to heal his body, he lived a stress-free life on a vegan diet, which ultimately wasn’t enough and he privately underwent dialysis,” a rep for the actor told People at the time. “She recently found out that one of her friends is a match and is optimistic that she will soon receive a transplant.”
