Desperate actress and model from famous family says she could do it
Actress and model Bijou Phillips revealed that she urgently needs a kidney transplant and that she is “hanging by a thread.”
“I could be on dialysis for a couple of years, or I could get an infection in my line tomorrow and be gone in a few days,” Phillips told Us Weekly in Friday’s issue. “I have high hopes, [but] “It is an extremely urgent situation.”
Phillips, who appeared on “Almost Famous” and as a recurring character on the television series “Raising Hope,” said he needed a transplant for a year.
The 45-year-old is the daughter of late Mamas and Papas frontman John Phillips and sister of “One Day at a Time” alum Mackenzie Phillips and singer Chynna Phillips of the group Wilson Phillips. He was born with underdeveloped kidneys and received his first transplant about 10 years ago.
But in a Feb. 11 Instagram post he said complications had arisen, including antibody rejection, and that he would need a new kidney.
Phillips, who divorced imprisoned rapist Danny Masterson from “That ’70s Show,” praised her boyfriend Jamie Mazur for helping her fight.
“He makes me fight where I probably wouldn’t have fought,” she told Us Weekly in a video on Instagram.
Phillips recalled her daughter, Fianna, playing with dolls when she was 3 years old and pretending that one of them was going to undergo dialysis.
Now Fianna is 12 years old.
“I’m all he has,” Phillips told Us Weekly.
