The NFL 2025 draft brought its fair part of surprises. But the free fall of Shedeur Sanders by the Draft boards was perhaps the most surprising development.

The Cleveland Browns finally selected Sanders in the fifth round on Saturday. Shortly after the national team, Sanders turned to social networks to share a short but emotional message: “Thank God.” In later days, many figures in the world of sport and beyond have tried to delineate the fall of Sanders.

On Tuesday, a Athletic report, citing an unmanned NFL team executive, highlighted the decisions that Sanders made that could have contributed to some teams disappointed with former Colorado Field Marshal who led to the NFL draft.

“I think Shedeur approached these visits with the teams as a recruitment trip versus a job interview,” the team executive told The Outlet.

The same source suggested to Atlético that Sanders’s refusal to hire an agent to represent him in an official capacity to act as detriment. A certified and experienced agent could have given Sanders a beneficial vision of the draft process, the report suggested.

It was widely believed that Shedeur’s father, the member of the Fame Hall of Football of Shede, Deion Sanders, effectively served as an informal advisor of the field marshal during the Draft process.

Sanders also faced an intense scrutiny of a different source just before the opening round began last Thursday.

When asked to describe his experience of prior interview to the Draft with Shedeur, an anonymous assistant coach of the NFL said it was “the worst formal interview” of which he had been part.

“He has a lot of right. He takes unnecessary captures. He never plays on time. He has a horrible body language. Culsa to teammates … but the most important thing is that it is not so good,” said the assistant coach not manned through the NFL media.

Sanders ended the 2024 season with 4,134 air yards. It will join a field marshal room full of people in Cleveland that presents Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel.
