Washington-the representative Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) He said on Monday that a mother in her Tampa district was “torn” from her baby by ice agents and illegally deported to Cuba.

In a letter to President Donald Trump, Castor urges him to “immediately” grant humanitarian probation for Heidy Sánchez, whose husband told Castor that Sánchez’s separation from Sánchez’s ice agents of his little daughter was so traumatic that the baby was taken to the hospital.

“The baby was still breastfeeding at the time his administration destroyed them, and the baby’s ongoing health problems require his mother’s return to the United States as soon as possible,” Castor wrote to Trump.

“It is inconceivable and inlays that its ice staff damages families in this way,” he said. “Mrs. Sánchez has the right to due process, and her husband and daughter (both American citizens) deserve to be treated with the dignity we value as Americans.”

Florida’s congresswoman said that Sánchez, a health assistant at home, was complying with an ice application for a regular record in a Tampa office when the agents took her out of her family and sent her to Cuba. Her husband and baby are American citizens, but Sánchez is from Cuba.

Here is the full text of the Castor’s letter to Trump that she provided to the press:

Dear Trump President:

I write to call the cruel and illegal treatment of Heidy Sánchez de Tampa, Florida, who was torn from her little daughter and husband last Thursday and transported to Cuba. I urge you to grant Mrs. Sánchez Humanitarian probation and return her to her family in Tampa immediately.

Mrs. Sánchez’s husband, Carlos Yuniel Valle, informed me that the separation of mother and daughter was so sudden and traumatic that her little daughter was taken to the hospital. The baby was still breastfeeding at the time his administration destroyed them, and the baby’s ongoing health problems require his mother’s return to the United States as soon as possible. Mrs. Sánchez, mother and home health assistant, was complying with the application for customs immigration and control (ICE) to regularly register at the Tampa local office. During his appointment last Tuesday, he was torn without ceremonies of his daughter and husband and transported to Cuba.

It is inconceivable and incorrect that your ice staff damages families in this way. Mrs. Sánchez has the right to due process, and her husband and daughter (both American citizens) deserve to be treated with the dignity we value as Americans. Due to the suffocating oppression in Cuba and the lack of essential elements such as food and clean water, Mrs. Sánchez should not be trafficked to a country where she will be harmed and suffer.

He attended the funeral of Pope Francis during the weekend, so I recommend that he honors his memory acting consistently with his recent warning that “we are asked to consider the legitimacy of public norms and policies in the light of the dignity of the person and their fundamental rights.”

The treatment of the Sánchez-Valle family is a deep spot for administration and is disgusting to US values and constitutional protections, but it does not have to be so. You have the authority to grant humanitarian probation to Mrs. Sánchez and gather this family today in Tampa. I urge you to do it immediately.

Sincerely,

Sánchez’s lawyer, Claudia Cañizares, told News on Saturday that Sanchez had an outstanding deportation order of 2019, when a hearing was lost that led her to be arrested for nine months. Cuba did not take Sánchez at that time, so she was released in 2020 and told her to have a regular ice record schedule.

Cañizares emphasized that Sánchez is not a criminal and has a strong argument for humanitarian reasons to remain in the United States, he also pointed out that Sánchez’s baby suffers from seizures.

Sánchez’s deportation is the last in the Trump administration campaign to deport as many people as possible that they may be in the country illegally or even temporarily, as in a visa, regardless of whether they have committed violent crimes. Many are being deported without due process, which is a right under the Constitution. The interim director of ICE, Tom Homan, has been particularly aggressive and cruel in the midst of this campaign, but his threats of deportation levels never seen have been short, so he is now telling people to deport themselves.

Last month, the Supreme Court blocked the efforts of the Trump administration to deport a group of Venezuelan immigrants under a law of war of the 18th century. But that was after the White House relied on the dark law to deport more than 200 immigrants born in Venezuelans to a prison in El Salvador. Trump said they were gang members, but there is little or no evidence to support this.

The White House confirmed this month that Trump is also looking for ways to deport US citizens, which would be illegal.

“These would be atrocious and violent criminals who have violated the laws of our nation repeatedly,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, journalists. “These are violent criminals and repeat offenders in American streets.”
