Robert Downey Jr. shows thong at the Oscars and Channing Tatum was not amused

It was Iron Man against Captain America in the Oscars 2026 on Sunday night, and no one won. Especially not Channing Tatum.

During the ceremony, the second coming of “Captain America: Civil War” almost happened when “Avengers” alums Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans took the stage to present the screenwriting awards.

As Downey got down to business as he began introducing the Best Adapted Screenplay nominees, Evans just stared at him, looking terribly salty.

“What did you get me for our anniversary?” Evans finally intervened.

“Dude, wait, I’m…” Downey said, shrugging.

But Evans disagreed.

“It’s the 14th anniversary of the first ‘Avengers’ movie,” Evans told the Oscars audience. “I got you A signed copy of the script is backstage, from the first table read. The entire cast signed it. “I really thought about this.”

“Mine is backstage,” said an unconvincing Downey. As he struggled, Downey reached into his pockets.

“I’ve got it on me. Look, that’s for you,” he said, handing something to Evans.

“This is your valet parking ticket,” Evans revealed angrily. “Do you drive alone?”

“I did. I’m a man of the people. I really didn’t think it through. I’m going to need that back. I’m sorry,” Downey said, slipping the valet ticket and putting it back in his pocket.

After Paul Thomas Anderson won the categoryEvans took the stage alone to present the award for Best Original Screenplay. Before speaking, however, Evans looked around the stage for Downey, shrugged, and decided to introduce him himself.

“Okay! Speaking of anniversaries, it was 50 years ago that Frank Pierson won Best Original Screenplay for ‘Dog Day Afternoon,'” Evans said as Downey ran up on stage to join him at the microphone.

“I was just joking. Of course I bought you something!” Downey said as he reached into his pocket once more and pulled out something white, flimsy, and shiny. “I bought you the official Channing Tatum thong from ‘Magic Mike’.”

Although Evans seemed disappointed, Downey continued.

“It’s sequined. It’s like a mirror ball effect. Light wear,” Downey said.

“I have no words,” Evans said before someone in the audience shouted.

“Hey, I need that back though!” Tatum shouted from his seat at the Oscars, making a great callback to when Downey needed his valet ticket back earlier.

“So that?” -Downey asked.

“I got to work later, man,” Tatum said sheepishly.
