Jimmy Kimmel took some brutal hits at President Donald Trump and his wife’s pet project while presenting Best Documentary at the Oscars on Sunday night.

The late-night host praised the nonfiction nominees for their bravery, telling the audience, “As you know, there are some countries whose leaders do not support freedom of expression.”

“I’m not at liberty to say which one,” he continued. “Let’s leave it to North Korea and News.”

News has not been subtle in adapting its content to the president’s taste. Since Trump took office last year, the network has canceled his nemesis Stephen Colbert’s late-night show, installed MAGA-friendly journalist Bari Weiss in its news division and temporarily shelved a “60 Minutes” story about abuses at the El Salvador prison where the administration sent deportees.

Amazon snapped up the rights to the documentary “Melania” for $40 million, causing many to wonder if the project was nothing more than a poorly disguised bribe. Here, the first lady is seen at the White House on March 12.

Kimmel then dug into First Lady Melania Trump’s documentary and joked, “There are also documentaries where you walk around the White House trying on shoes.”

Amazon Studios reportedly paid a whopping $40 million for the widely panned documentary, leading some to accuse the film of being nothing more than a thinly veiled bribe.

With one last sneaky comment before announcing the winner for Best Documentary Short, Kimmel said, “Oh, man, is he going to be mad that his wife wasn’t nominated for this?”
