Heath Ledger resurgence clip condemning homophobic

A resurgence clip causes fans to cry to the late Heath Ledger again.

The Oscar -winning actor had no qualms about portraying a gay cowboy in “Brokeback Mountain”, but he had complaints that the 2005 drama became a line line for homophobic jokes at that time, and said it openly during a 2006 press conference in Berlin.

With intolerant reactions to the central relationship of the film flooding speech, at a time when same -sex marriage had not yet been legalized in the United States, Ledger was asked at the Berlinale International Film Festival what would tell people “that suggests that this is disgusting.”

“Oh,” the actor, then 26, groaned at that time. “Well, I don’t know. I think it’s true pity.”

“Well, I think it’s immature, for example,” Ledger continued. “Really immature. But I think it is an incredible shame that people do everything possible to discuss or express their disgust, I should say. Or negative opinions about the way two people want to love each other.”

“I mean, at least express their opinions on how two people show hatred, violence and anger with each other,” he added. “Isn’t it more important?

The adaptation of Ang Lee of the 1997 story of the same name of the author Annie Proulx really surprised the people: she won eight nominations for the Academy awards, but lost the biggest prize for “accident”, widely considered one of the worst profits of the best image in history.

“The pure fact of this is that it transcends a label, it is human,” Ledger explained during the 2006 press conference. “It is a story of two human beings, two souls who are in love. It’s like overcoming the fact that there are two men, that is the point.”

“We are showing that love between two men is as infectious, emotional, strong and pure as it is with heterosexual love,” he added. “And if you can’t understand that, then don’t go see the movie, it’s fine. You know, we don’t care.”

“Treat it in its own private life,” he concluded.

Ledger’s response was shared on Wednesday in Tiktok by PinkNews to decorate thousands of fans, since the actor did not call words to condemn the reaction at a time when portraying the homosexual characters he was seen as a possible career murderer.

“Very well declared. Heath was obviously a genuine human being,” said a fan about the publication, with another writing: “Gay marriage was not even federally legal when this movie came out. Not much less when the film is set. An important and important film.”

“What a beautiful answer,” said another user simply.

Ledger came to reach stratospheric career heights with his villain turn as the Joker in “The Dark Knight” by Christopher Nolan (2008), but died of an accidental drug overdose months before his release. He won a posthumous Oscar for his performance in 2009.

“Heath Ledger will always miss it,” said a fan on Wednesday.
