Harris starts Trump in a great post -election speech:

San Francisco (AP)-former Vice President Kamala Harris used a high profile speech on Wednesday to abruptly criticize President Donald Trump in the midst of speculation about whether he will set up another presidential campaign or choose to run for the governor of California.

In his most extensive public comments since he left office in January after his defeat against Trump, Harris said he is inspired by Americans who fight against Trump’s agenda despite threats to his freedom or sustenance.

“Instead of an administration that works to advance in the highest ideals in the United States, we are witnessing the wholesale of those ideals,” Harris said one day after Trump reached 100 days in office.

Before Wednesday, Harris had barely mentioned Trump by name since she admitted the defeat in November.

In a 15 -minute speech, she talked about the anxiety and confusion that they have taken over many of her followers since Trump assumed office but discouraged despair.

“They have the notion that if they can make some people be afraid, it will have a chilling effect on others. But what they have overlooked is that fear is not the only thing that is contagious,” said Harris. “The courage is contagious.”

Trump went after Harris in a campaign style rally on Tuesday that marked his day 100 in office. She sarcastically called a “great border tsar” and a “great candidate”, and repeated some of the applause lines he usually delivered during the campaign.

Until Harris replaced Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket last summer, Trump said: “He didn’t know anything about her.”

Harris warned Americans not to see the Trump administration as simply chaotic, presenting it as a “high -speed event”, the culmination of extensive work on the right to rebuild the government.

“A vessel is being used for the rapid implementation of an agenda that has been decades in process,” said Harris. “An agenda to reduce public education. An agenda to reduce the government and then privatize its services. Everything while giving tax exemptions to the richest among us.”

Harris chose a friendly audience for his return to the political arena, addressing the gala of the twenty -anniversary to emerge America, an organization that recruits and enables democratic women to apply for a position. He grew in part of Harris’s career for the San Francisco district prosecutor in the early 2000s.

The speech was pronounced under luminous luminous in a dance hall trimmed in gold at the historic Palace Hotel.

Harris is increasing their public presence while the Democrats seek a way to follow after the November elections, in which the Republicans also won the control of the congress. While a list of high -profile Democrats, from governors to businessmen, seek leadership roles within the party, the former vice president retains a unique influence and remodel any future race to enter.

He praised the Democrats who have been especially prolific in criticizing Trump, the legislators of the diverse names in their ideology and style: Sens. Cory Booker, Chris van Hollen, Chris Murphy and Bernie Sanders along with the representatives Jasmine Crockett, Maxwell and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

But he did not take a position in one of the central divisions of his party, nor did he ask for mass mobilization as the governor of Illinois JB Pritzker or question the democratic positioning on key issues such as the governor of California Gavin Newsom.

“I’m not here tonight to offer all the answers,” said Harris. “But I am here to say this: you are not alone and we are all together in this.”

But he warned that things will probably get worse before improving.

“The only check, the only balance, the only power that should not fail is the voice of the people,” he said.

Harris, a former American state prosecutor and senator from California, has not discouraged the speculation that he could enter the race to replace the term Limited Newsom, himself a possible contender for the president. And she has not ruled out another career for the White House.

She did not go to her future on Wednesday.

She continues to raise funds, using a joint committee that includes Harris for President, the National Democratic Committee and state Democratic parties. The Committee, Harris’s Fund of Victoria, reported having around $ 4.5 million available at the end of March, according to federal records.

In the recent emails for fundraising, Harris has been Franco about the need for Democrats to join before the mid -period elections of 2026.

Democrats need to “organize and stop Trump’s agenda while choosing Democrats everywhere,” he wrote in recent emails. “There has never been a more important moment for a strong Democratic party, one that is willing to face Donald Trump, Elon Musk and what they are doing to this country.”

The event marks a kind of return home. Harris lives in Los Angeles, but she is from the San Francisco Bay area, where her political career is entrenched. For his first important speech from the elections, he chose a family land and a family multitude, somehow.

Lisa Gotbhi, a medical attention executive in San Francisco, said that Harris’s loss last year was a “shock”, but “it is a voice we need and a leader we need. Let’s go back to the fight.”
