The statue of Melania Trump in its native Slovenia disappears, after the previous one was burned

The Police in Slovenia is investigating the disappearance of a bronze statue of the first lady Melania Trump that was scared and took her hometown.

The natural size sculpture was presented in 2020 during the first mandate of President Donald Trump near Sevnica in the center of Slovenia, where Melanija Knavs was born in 1970. He replaced a wooden statue that had been fire Earlier that year.

Police spokeswoman Alenk Drenik Rangus said Friday that the police were informed about the theft of the statue on Tuesday. She said the police were working to locate those responsible. According to Slovenian media reports, the bronze replica was sawn in the ankles and eliminated.

The original wooden statue was burned in July 2020. The rustic figure was cut from the trunk of a Linden tree, showing it with a pale blue dress like the one carried in the presidential inauguration of Mr. Trump in 2017.

The original statue found mixed opinions of the locals, and a resident told Reuters in 2019 that melania represented in the sculpture “is not seen as beautiful as it is normally”, while another place told BBC News that it seemed “Smurfette.” It had been carved in a tree trunk by local chain artist Ales Zupevc, BBC News reported.

The replica of the bronze statue that replaced it does not have an obvious resemblance to the first lady.
