The personal secretary and advisor of the mayor of Mexico City was killed by armed men on a motorcycle in a central neighborhood of the capital on Tuesday, authorities said.

Mayor Clara Brugada has the most powerful political position in the country to President Claudia Sheinbaum, and are allies in the Morena party.

Brugada said in a statement that his secretary Ximena Guzmán and advisor José Muñoz were killed in the modern neighborhood. Brugada called the murders a “direct attack.”
