After another News figure resigned in the apparent protest, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT.) He repeated his calls to the Global Paramount’s controlling shareholder, Shari Redstone, not to resolve with President Donald Trump about his “false” demand with respect to a “60-minute” segment.

The president of News, Wendy McMahon, announced on Monday that she would leave her position, saying that she could not agree with Paramount, the parent company of the network, how to proceed.

“Bill Owens, the 60 -minute producer of News, resigned in protest,” Sanders wrote on social networks, referring to the April departure from Owens. “Wendy McMahon, the head of News, has now resigned. I tell Shari Redstone: it is enough. Do not capitulate Trump’s attack on a free press. It does not resolve Trump’s false demand against 60 minutes.”

According to the reports, Redstone has indicated that he is in favor of resolving the demand of $ 20 billion of Trump, in which he states that News deceptively edited an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris in October in a way that would help her overcome him in the presidential elections.

The Redstone position apparently disagrees with those of employees, including Owens and McMahon, who expressed a serious concern for the company that surrendered to Trump’s legal pressure.

“It has been clear that the company and I do not agree on the way to follow,” McMahon wrote in a memorandum to News staff obtained by News themezone.

Owens delivered a similar farewell in his memo last month, writing: “In recent months, it has been clear that I would not be allowed to direct the program, since I have always executed it, to make independent decisions based on what was correct for ’60 minutes ‘,’ suitable for the audience.”

Earlier this month, Sanders led a letter from him and eight other senators urging Global Paramount not “capitulary to this dangerous movement towards Trump’s authoritarianism.” The letter chose the company for initially presenting two motions to dismiss Trump’s case, but said the movement towards an agreement is “a serious mistake.”

“Reward Trump with dozens of millions of dollars for presenting this false demand will not get back in his war against the media and a free press,” the senators wrote. “It will only be emboldened to shake, extort and silence News and other media that have the courage to inform about the problems Trump may not like.”
