Denzel Washington’s representative reveals the truth behind the Cannes Festival incident
A brief tension flash blinked between a photographer and Denzel Washington, although not enough to throw the script day.
The acclaimed actor attended the Cannes 2025 Film Festival to release his new film, “the lowest 2 lower.” Washington joined the director Spike Lee and the rapper at $ Ap Rocky. But the ceremonious moment briefly fought when an unnamed photographer became too familiar with the Oscar winner.
The meeting, which was captured in a clip shared by the New York Post on May 19, shows a sea of photographers, one of which arrived next to Washington, presumably to get his attention. Washington is seen admonishing man, who, however, makes a second attempt.

“Enough!” Washington snapped, away from the photographer’s hand, visibly frustrated by the agolia of the gesture.
Now, days later, a Washington representative has approached the incident. In a statement obtained by e! News, shared on Tuesday, the representative offered an idea of how the moment affected the actor’s night.
“It was a great night,” the representative told The Outlet, and, for what it seems, one that was not so easily derailled.

During the film’s projection, Washington was honored with a “special gift” from the festival to recognize its cinema contributions. A montage of the most prominent aspects of his career played before he has formally presented the palme d’Or d’Honneur, an Achievement Award for life awarded to the artists who have shaped the art form themselves.
