Audra McDonald breaks the silence on the impressive Patti lupones of the crack and adds 1 important detail
It turns out that Patti Lupone’s alleged dispute with his companion Broadway icon, Audra McDonald, can be unilateral.
On Thursday, “News Mornings” announced a teaser video of the next interview of the Gayle King Coanfrerion with McDonald, who received his eleventh nomination of the Tony Award for the current Renaissance of “Gypsy”, in which he makes history as the first black plaintiff to portray Momma Rose.

Lupone’s suggestion of Feud between her and McDonald was among several claims to increase the eyebrows made by the actor “Agatha all the time” in his conversation with The New Yorker, published on Monday.
The subject arose when the journalist Michael Schulman asked Lupone about a 2024 incident in which he contacted the stage management team of Alicia Keys “Hell’s Kitchen”, which has a predominantly black cast, to ask that the sound signs of the program are adjusted. At that time, Lupone appeared in the play “The Roommate” in a neighboring theater, and alleged certain sounds in “Hell’s Kitchen” that were audible during the performances of their show.
The “Hell’s Kitchen” team seemed to accommodate Lupone’s request quickly. When he was told that McDonald had responded to Lewis’s Instagram video with support emojis, Lupone replied: “That is typical of Audra. She is not a friend.”
Lupone’s notes exit also referred to a “crack for a long time” between her and McDonald before appearing in McDonald’s “Gypsy” performance. In particular, Lupone played Momma Rose in the 2008 Broadway production of “Gypsy”, winning a Tony.
Although Lupone’s comments on Lewis have been the most incendiary, his statement about McDonald also surprised many fans, given the two women who have acted together on multiple occasions.
Since the New Yorker article was published, numerous actors, writers and other members of the Broadway community have recovered behind Lewis and McDonald while denouncing Lupone’s comments.
“In fact, I am grateful for the article, because now the industry and the world can see Patti Lupone for what it really is,” wrote playwright Bryan-Keyth Wilson on Instagram. “The way he talked about these incredibly talented black women, calling them by their names, reducing their contributions, it was disgusting. If a black woman had behaved in the same way, she would have crucified.”
The actor and singer Shoshana Bean, one of the “Hell’s Kitchen” co -star in Lewis, felt similarly.
“Our government is threatening the very existence of art and creators daily, our financing, our validity … while trying to erase the history and contributions of black people in this country,” he wrote about Instagram stories, according to Playbill. “We will not allow attacks like this within our own community.”
