The voice actor of “King of the Hill”, Jonathan Joss, was shot dead in what her husband claims to have been a crime of homophobic hatred.

On Monday, the authorities confirmed that Joss, 59, had died after an altercation on Sunday night with a former neighbor.

Subsequently, Joss’s husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, shared his incident story in a social media statement where he said that the couple was regularly the goal of homophobic harassment and threats while living in the neighborhood of San Antonio, Texas.

Gonzales and Joss had moved from the area after their home burned in January, but returned to the site to recover mail pieces. When they met the skull of a dog they lost in the fire, Gonzales said that both men “started screaming and crying in response to the pain of what we saw.”

It was at that time, a man “shouted violent homophobic insults” that “then raised a gun of his lap and shot,” Gonzales said.

“Jonathan and I had no weapons. We weren’t threatening anyone,” he wrote. “We were afflicted. We were next to each other. When the man shot Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life.”

San Antonio police initially told People magazine that they discovered Joss with several gunshot wounds after they were sent to a progress shooting around 7 pm on Sunday night.

Although they tried measures to save lives while waiting for doctors to arrive, then he was declared dead at the scene.

The alleged shooter, neighbor Sigfredo Álvarez Cejam, fled, but was arrested by officers one block from the crime scene. Cejam has been reserved for murder positions, and an investigation is still ongoing.

The sources that spoke with TMZ told him to the exit that Joss and Cejam had a history of entering “verbal and physical” altercations.
