Hague, Netherlands – The National Museum of the Netherlands has a new exhibition object that combines art with the infamous district of Red Luz de Amsterdam: a condom of almost 200 years old, stamped with erotic art.
The Rijksmuseum said in a statement that the playful prophylactic, which is believed to be created around 1830 of the appendix of a sheep, “represents both the playful and serious side of sexual health.”
Is it part of an exhibition called “safe sex?” About the sexual work of the nineteenth century that opened on Tuesday.
The condom, possibly a memory of a brothel, is decorated with an erotic image of a nun and three clergy.

The phrase “This is my choice” is written along the French pod. According to the museum, this is a reference to the painting of Renoir Pierre-Auguste “The trial of Paris”, which represents the Trojan Prince Paris judging a beauty contest among three goddesses.
“Acquiring the condom has allowed us to focus on the sexuality and prostitution of the nineteenth century, an issue that is underrepresented in our collection. The clearest and dark sides of sexual health are embodied, in an era in which the search for sensual pleasure was full of fears of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, especially diseases,” says the museum on its website.

The museum said that he acquired the condom at an auction about six months ago with the support of the FG Waller-Fonds, a commemorative fund established in 1938 in memory of one of the benefactors of Rijksmuseum.
The piece of the history of the art of sexual theme had to remain on display until the end of November, the museum said.
