Doctors urge high -risk groups to limit outdoor activity in the midst of air quality alert
A air quality map shows conditions in the United States as Canadian forest fire The smoke moves through parts of the country, which causes alerts and notices of air quality in multiple states this week.
The map shows that parts of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan faced an unhealthy air from Thursday afternoon, according to a federal measurement system called Air quality index. Minnesota And Wisconsin had experienced unhealthy air on Wednesday and previous days.
The air index has six grades:
- Good
- Moderate
- Unhealthy for sensitive groups
- Unhealthy
- Very unhealthy
- Dangerous
Sensitive groups include those that have heart or pulmonary disease, as well as older adults, pregnant children and women.
Air quality warnings or alerts were issued for several states throughout the week, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois, as well as in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and parts of Maryland, according to the National Meteorological Service.
