Passengers on an American Airlines flight from the United States to Italy were forced to take a bus to their final destination after their plane was forced to land 140 miles away because it was too large to land at the original destination.
American Airlines Flight 780 left the Philadelphia International Airport at 7:42 pm local time on Monday and it was supposed to land in Naples, Italy, at 10 am local time, according to FlightTAware.
However, Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was on the coast of Italy, in the middle of Rome and Naples, when he turned abruptly over the Tierenio sea and returned to the Italian capital.
American Airlines told News themezone that the plane was forced to deviate to the Fiamicino Rome airport “due to operational limitations.”
Historical flight data shows that American Airlines generally flies a Boeing 787-8 to Naples, approximately 20 feet shorter than 787-9.

After the flight landed in Rome, the passengers were transported to Naples, a trip of approximately 3 hours.
“We apologize to them for this interruption of their trip,” American Airlines told News themezone in a statement.
