A new COVID-19 variant called NB.1.8.1 could represent up to one third of cases, according to health officials.
A distinctive seal of this last strain is a symptom that some people call “razor blade”.
The variant, informally known as “Nimbus”, represented approximately 37% of cases in the US. For a period of two weeks that ends on June 7, as established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

What is the razor blade throat?

Other causes
An intense throat pain does not necessarily mean that Covid is guilty, nor is it a completely new symptom.
Faringitis, the medical term for sore throat, can have a variety of causes. Bacterial infections, allergies and acid reflux can contribute to throat pain, experts say.
“Pharyngitis, or throat pain, is a common finding with many viral infections,” Perry told News Digital. “Although approximately 20% of throat pain are caused by certain bacteria, most are caused by viruses like Covid.”

The treatment of throat pain will depend on the cause, so it is important to consult a health professional for a medical diagnosis, doctors in agreement.
Treatment for pharyngitis is typically a mixture of classic remedies and medications, according to Perry.
“Honey is the treatment of choice for throat and coughing,” he told News Digital. “Anti -inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen or naproxen are also useful for improving symptoms.”

Bacterial infections may require antibiotics, while acid reflux treatment could be as simple as a free sale antacid.
