How the US fentanyl policy is changing
Three people, including an American citizen and a national dual, were arrested and 110,000 fentanyl pills were seized, Mexican authorities said on Saturday.
The arrests were made by the Ministry of Security and Protection of Citizens and the Office of the Attorney General, in coordination with other federal agencies, said the SSCP in a press release. The Federal Research Office also participated in the Binational Operation, said the SSCP.
The information acquired by the United States and Mexico allowed security agents to implement “intelligence actions and surveillance actions” that took them to the three people. After performing land patrols in Mexico City, Juarez, security agents identified two men and a woman traveling in a vehicle. The three fled when they noticed the authorities, said the SSCP.
After a brief persecution, the three were arrested. The security agents found the fentanyl pills inside the vehicle. They had been divided into 10 packages made of transparent plastic. The photos shared on social networks by SSCP leader Omar Hamid García Harfuch also show four identifications and three cell phones.

The three were arrested and delivered to the custody of the prosecutor, said the SSCP. The pills were also placed in police custody. The three people have not been identified. The woman is American. One of the men is a Mexican-American dual dual and has a court order in the US for drug trafficking, authorities said.
Arrests will help “stop traffic of illicit substances and prevent drugs from reaching young people,” said the SSCP.
The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has made Combat the illegal distribution of drugs A priority for your government. In recent months, authorities in the country have announced several Great fentanyl seizuresincluding a 2024 seizure that officials say it was the bigger in the history of the country.
