Iran -based News producer on the future of the country
Tehran – Seyed Rahim Bataei has long been the eyes and ears of News themezone in Iran. For 16 years, it has helped us present to our audience the regular Iranians who have shared their hopes and fears.
During all those years, Iranian society has been divided between those who ardently support the theocratic rulers of the Islamic Republic, and those who do not. However, after 12 days of devastating war with Israel, News themezone has seen a level of national unity that was not there before.
“Iran is an ancient country with an ancient civilization, more than 5,000 years of history. They want to preserve it,” explains Bathaei of his Iranian companions. “They say: ‘We are the nation. We have a national identity. Do not crush, do not try to crush, or do not insult our pride and this deep civilization.'”
For Bathaei, the military shock among the archir -ival of the Middle East had been inevitable for some time.
“I was waiting for this,” he says. “Iran has had this strong belief to support the Palestinians and the Palestinian cause, and has not been shy when projecting it quite openly. Therefore, it was obvious at some point, nobody knew when, but this would come, that Iran and Israel would make a direct war, direct confrontation instead of power wars. Murder, covert operationsand on the Iranian side, fighting Israel through what is called today Iran’s power groups. Then, at some point, it was quite inevitable that both countries had reached this boiling point. “

Israel, backed by its close ally in the United States, may well have the military capacity to knock down the government led by Ayatolá Ali Khamenei. But Bathaei says such movement, that President Trump claims to have planned During the 12 days of fighting, it would have serious consequences beyond the borders of Iran.
“That would be a disaster. We have already seen what happened in Libya, what happened to Syria. Iraq, actually, is a great example for us. That is a disaster for the region,” he says. “There will be a failed state of which there could be terrorism out.”
That threat is no longer imminent, and the president of Alto El Fuego, Trump, Trump, transmitted between Iran and Israel, has remained for almost a week, but Bathaei, depending completely on the feelings that come from more than 35 years as a journalist in Iran, still struggles to find optimism.
“I think we are going to darker things,” he says. “I am not a fortune teller, but my instinct tells me, yes, we go to darker things. But I hope it is wrong.”
One thing surprised Bataei during the war with Israel: President Trump ordered American combat planes to join the bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“President Trump was full of surprises,” he says. “I wasn’t thinking that I could have gone so far.”
“I don’t think Iranian leadership was ready, or believed that the United States could attack Iran at that level,” Bataei adds.
Now, he worries that the United States can attack Iran again.
The solution, Bataei, believes, is for both sides To sit and speak it.
“They are not talking to each other. If they sit and begin a conversation or even visit, I mean, Iranian politicians are going to visit the United States, US politicians who come here and visit Iran, I think that a large part of this misunderstanding can be eliminated. I am not saying that Iran and the United States will be a friend, they will be the allies, in the near future, but I think it is not impossible.” “.” “
It is a desire for peace that has been resonated by many people with whom News themezone has spoken in Iran, and everyone expects leaders in Tehran, Tel Aviv and in Washington to listen to it.
