Amid the concern in kyiv that the United States is becoming a less reliable ally, Ukraine has presented its own drone developed in the country specifically designed to counteract one of Moscow’s weapons of choice, Shahed explosive drones manufactured in Iranian.

Russia again launched multiple drones on Monday in the sumy region of Ukraine. The explosions sounded out of strikes that charged lives and damaged civil infrastructure. Vladimir Putin’s forces have used lethal and relatively economic drones to stroke Ukraine infrastructure for years.

Last week, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and visiting the Belgian Prime Minister, Bart of Wever, met with representatives of defense companies in the capital of Ukraine, kyiv, where the new Ukrainian weapons system was revealed.

The video published by Zelenskyy on social networks showed what was promoted as a recently developed interceptor drone, but the images remained dark to avoid disseminating system details, and information about it was not provided.

Developers claim that interceptors have already eliminated more than 20 shaheds for about two months.

Wild Hornets, a non -profit Ukrainian organization, is one of the entities behind the development of new interceptor drones. A group co -founder told News themezone that the interceptors in which he is working, a system known as Sting, entered production at the beginning of the year and is now supplied in significant quantities to the Ukrainian armed forces.

The organization, which said that it is largely financed by private donations such as other support groups Ukraine war effortsaffirms that interceptors, which are still developing, can easily reach speeds of more than 125 miles per hour.

Wild Hornets spokesman said that the group matters many of the components necessary to build China Sting drones, such as the European Union “has no similar components of appropriate quantity and quality.”

The organization emphasized that it was looking for ways to replace Chinese components with Ukrainian manufacturing parts. The spokesman told News themezone that the production of Sting Wild Hornets interceptors has increased “several times” every month.

Shortly after the weapons system for Zelenskyy, Wever and Defense Executives in kyiv last week, Ukrainian and Belgian representatives signed a cooperation agreement between the respective defense industries of the countries.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of joint production for “future security throughout Europe.”

The importance of stopping the explosive drones of Russia

The new interceptors could be vital for Ukraine. They offer a much cheaper and more sustainable option to eliminate relatively small but massive explosive drones of Russia compared to traditional air defense systems, which require more expensive anti -aircraft missiles, often supplied by Ukraine partners.

Kyiv has prioritized the development of such internal technology in an attempt to reduce its dependence on missile systems supplied by its western allies.

In a recent interview with a Ukrainian media, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander in chief of the Ukraine Army, said that there had already been a reduction in the support of the United States, while promoting the innovation of his country and the growing defense production capacity.

“The United States assistance has decreased. And the main assistance comes from our partners in Europe,” Syrskyi told LB outlet (Left Bank) in an interview published on April 9. “But we must also trust our own strength. And we have successes in artillery production. Enough success in the electronic war.

In spite of a suspicious success rate of only around 10%, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies of the United States, the operation and cost of low altitude and the low altitude cost of the Shahed of only around $ 35,000 per unit have made them a weapon of choice for Russia.

CSIS points out that a single Russian Kalibr cruise missile, in comparison, costs more than one million dollars.

Although Ukraine demolishes most Shaheds launched by Russia, they still represent a significant threat to the country. Shaheds launched By Russia in the second largest city in Ukraine, Kharkiv, killed two people and wounded more than a dozen last month alone.

A report issued in March by the Institute of International Science and Safety, based in Washington, DC, said that during the seven months, Russia launched about 15,000 non -manned aerial vehicles of Shahed type in Ukraine.

Russia began using the Shaheds designed by Iran in August 2022, six months after Putin ordered the large -scale invasion of Ukraine of his army.
