The new cover of Jojo Siwa by “Bette Davis Eyes” does not seem to resonate with singer Kim Carnes, who made the song famous for the first time 44 years ago.

Meats apparently ruled out Siwa’s interpretation of “Bette Davis Eyes” while sharing a 1981 original music video clip for the song on a Tiktok on Tiktok Wednesday since then.

“There is a difference between singing a song … and embody it …” Carnes wrote in the publication, which was captured for posterity on page six of the New York Post, among other points of sale, as well as on social networks.

She continued to observe: “I am always grateful to be the voice behind this ….. Bette Davis Eyes.”

Meats, which resides in Nashville, Tennessee, did not mention Siwa by name in the publication. However, Siwa had already been causing Friday’s launch of his cover of “Bette Davis Eyes” on social networks.

The 22 -year -old singer, actor and superstar has also played the song on the tour this year, especially changing the lyrics of “Chris Hughes’ Eyes” in several concerts, a nod to her real life boyfriend, the contestant of “Love Island” Chris Hughes.

A SIWA representative did not immediately respond to News’s request for comments on meat comments.

The meat version of “Bette Davis Eyes” occupied the number 1 position in the Billboard posters lists for nine weeks in 1981, then won the Grammy Awards for the registration of the year and the song of the year.

Given the success of the meat version, fans may be surprised to know that the song was originally recorded by singer and songwriter Jackie Demannon, who co -written her with Donna Weiss for her 1975 album, “New arrangement.”

More recently, Leighton Meester and Gwyneth Paltrow have covered the song, while Taylor Swift performed it live on his World World World 2011 tour.

Despite the seemingly less positive thoughts of meats on the cover of Siwa by “Bette Davis Eyes”, the new version seems to be contributing to the surprise resurgence of the song throughout the spectrum of pop culture this summer.

On Thursday, the meat version was played during a smoking scene in “And just like this …”, the series “Sex and the City” by HBO Max.
