The FBI releases new images of Iran Intel officers allegedly involved in the kidnapping of Robert Levinson

Federal authorities published new images of three Iranian intelligence officers allegedly involved in the kidnapping of the special agent retired from the FBI Robert Levinson.

Each one attached to a information search poster, the images of Reza Amiri Moghadam, Taghi Daneshvar and Gholamossein Mohammadnia are part of an extensive research on Levinson’s disappearance in 2007, said the FBI Washington Field Office.

Moghadam is the current Iranian ambassador to Pakistan and previously directed the Operations Unit of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security in Tehran, an agency whose members the FBI has accused of helping to orchestrate the abduction of Levinson.

Danishvar is described by the FBI as a high -ranking officer in the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence involved in counter -signing activities. Around the moment Levinson disappeared, he allegedly supervised the work of Mohammad Baseerianother Iranian intelligence officer to whom the United States government accused in kidnapping.

Mohammadnia is the main deputy in the Ministry of Intelligence who served as Iranian ambassador to Albania in 2016, before being expelled from Albania two years later for “damaging his national security,” according to the FBI. The American agency said that Mohammadnia directed an initiative to blame Levinson’s disappearance “in a terrorist group in the Baluchistan region of Pakistan to take the fault of the Iranian government.”

“These three intelligence officers were among those who allegedly facilitated the kidnapping of Bob in 2007 and the subsequent cover -up of the Iranian government. Bob probably also perished in captivity away from his family, friends and colleagues,” said Steven Jenson, the assistant deputy director in charge of Washington’s office of the FBI, in a statement. “The FBI will continue its incessant search to hold anyone involved in their kidnapping to account for their representable actions.”

The United States has maintained an opinion since Levinson disappeared that the retired agent was kidnapped during an unauthorized CIA mission in Iran, and subsequently unfairly detained by the Iranian government. It was believed that Levinson was alive for years, until US officials in 2020 said intelligence indicated that he could actually have been dead “for some time.”

Moghadam, Daneshvar and Mohammadnia were sanctioned by the United States Department of the Treasury in March for allegedly playing a role in the “kidnapping of Levinson, the probable death and Iran’s efforts to cover up or obfuscate their responsibility,” said the federal agency in an announcement at that time.

The last search information posters followed two others published by the FBI in December, for Baseeri and Ahmad Khazai, both Iranian Senior Intelligence officers thought they were responsible for the kidnapping, detention and probable death of Levinson. Federal authorities have described men as high -ranking officers in the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence. Both were also sanctioned by the United States government.
