Ian Ziering waited until the moment was correct to publicly cry his former cast partner “90210”, Shannen Doherty.

The actor published an emotional tribute to Doherty a year after the star “Charmed” died of cancer in stage 4. She was only 53 years old.

“When I heard for the first time I was sick, we had almost a decade with her,” Ziering wrote in an Instagram post on Monday. “And even then, most updates sounded less like ‘Shannen’s Fighting Cancer’ and more as ‘Cancer chosen the wrong woman’.

“That was his path, strong, challenging, that he does not put himself in prisoners. Every time he saw her during those years, it was still Shan, fierce, funny, full of life,” he said.

“That is why his death hit me like a cargo train. It surprised me. I really thought I was going to achieve a miracle.”

Ziering also explained why he did not share a public message in Doherty memory after his death.

“When he died a year ago, I didn’t publish anything. And yes, some people criticized that,” the actor shared. “For them I say: pain is not a performance. It is personal. Let people cry how they afflict.”

The actor “Sharknado” also shared how the two co -star originally had a difficult beginning, but their friendship only strengthened over the years.

“We face occasionally in the early 90210 years, two strong personalities will do it, but we always had respect,” he wrote. “As we grew up, we soften. We grew up. He understood what we had been part and what each one brought to the table.”

He finished his tribute telling his “dear Shannen” who still thinks of her often.
