A plane that transported 49 people crashed in the region of the Far East of Russia of Amur on Thursday, authorities said.

The plane, a double engine Antonov-24 operated by Angara Airlines, was heading to the city of Tynda from the city of Blagoveshchensk near the Russian-China border when she disappeared from the radar, said Vassily Orlov on Telegram.

Forty -three passengers, including five children, were on board with six crew members, said News, citing Orlov.

A rescue helicopter then saw the burning fuselage of the plane in a mountain about 10 miles from Tynda, authorities said.

The helicopter did not see evidence of survivors from above, local rescuers said.

The Amur Civil Defense Agency said he was sending rescuers to the scene.

“At this time, 25 people and five team units have been sent, and four teams with equipment are waiting,” he said.
