After years of auditions, the actor has been revealed to play Madonna in the next biographical film

Actor Julia Garner confirmed that she is playing the Madonna superstar in the long -awaited biographical film about the interpreter’s life.

“I cannot say too much about it, but it is a job in progress,” said the 31 -year -old W Magazine in a video published on Wednesday.

Madonna first announced in 2020 that she would co -write, along with Diablo Cody, and direct a biographical film about her life and career.

“I want to convey the incredible trip that life has assumed me as an artist, musician, a dancer, a human being, trying to make his way in this world,” Madonna said in a statement at that time. “The approach to this movie will always be music. Music has kept me in motion and art has kept me alive. There are so many stories not told and inspiring and who is better to tell it than me. It is essential to share the roller coaster of my life with my voice and vision.”

At that time, Garner only shared his hearing experience.

“I just wanted to see if I could do it, because I was not a trained dancer, and I had to learn to dance and then dance in front of her and convince her that I can dance basically, and sing,” he said. “And sing with her!”

According to the reports, the auditions to play Madonna in the biographical film were long and exhausting, and some described the process as “Madonna Bootcamp”. Before Garner got the official role, the stars that were ready for paper included Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie, Babe Rexha and Sky Ferreira.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the hearing process included up to 11 hours with choreography sessions with the Madonna choreographer and the pop icon. In call returns, the applicants had to read and sing with Madonna.

During an appearance in 2021 in “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon,” Madonna said he was taking the reins in his biographical film because, in the past, the men were the ones who had tried to write movies about her.

“I’m thinking, why would these people make a movie about my life?” She said. “There is nothing true in the script. The guy who is doing it has no understanding of women, he does not appreciate women or respect for women.”

He later added: “There is no one on this planet who can write or direct, make a movie about me better than me. And that is just the truth.”

This will not be the first time Garner assumed the role of a real person. In 2022, he played the sentenced Estafa Delvey in “Inventing Anna” of Netflix and was nominated for several awards for his performance.
