The report on the global state of AI at work 2025 has just confirmed what we all intuited. AI is not the future. It is now. But before you panic, let me offer you a new way to look at this.
Instead of fearing what’s coming, maybe it’s time to think outside the box. Nearly three in five companies say they are hiring for AI-related positions this year. And most of these jobs don’t require a computer science degree or even coding skills.
So what are they looking for? Real people with real world experience. They want people who can think critically, solve problems, and communicate clearly. That may sound a lot like… you.

These are some of the highest-paying and fastest-growing AI roles right now. Let’s dig deeper.
Fast engineers
$175k to $250k or more
These are the “AI whisperers.” Your job is to write the right prompts so that tools like ChatGPT provide useful, accurate, and intelligent answers. You don’t need to know how to code, but you do need to be a great communicator, logical thinker, and problem solver. Bonus: English majors, writers, and marketers often take on this role.

AI trainers (or testers)
From $90,000 to $150,000
Have you ever wondered how chatbots learn to seem polite or helpful? That’s the coach’s job. They grade the AI’s responses, modify tone and accuracy, and help refine what the AI ”knows.” This is a great role for detail-oriented people, even part-time and remote workers.

Machine learning engineers
From $150,000 to $210,000
If you’re the technical type who likes to code, solve complex problems, and develop the real brain behind AI, this is your place. These jobs are in very high demand and the pay is excellent.

Between $140,000 and $200,000
Isn’t it technical? It’s not a problem. AI PMs are the bridge between engineers and business teams. They guide strategy, ensure projects stay on time and on budget, and turn AI ideas into real-world results. You will need communication skills, curiosity and business intelligence.
Generative AI Consultants
From $125,000 to $185,000
This is perfect for freelancers or small business owners. Companies are desperate to figure out how to use AI and will pay you to teach them. You could help create automations, train teams, or configure tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, or Midjourney.
