Ai tech detects that hidden doctors of heart disease are often lost
NEWNow you can listen to News articles!
It may think that heart disease comes with warning signs. But some of the most fatal types, such as structural heart disease (SHD), crawl in silence. No chest pain. Without lack of breath. Nothing until it is too late.
Now, a new artificial intelligence tool called Echonext is changing the game. It can mark hidden heart problems that even trained cardiologists are lost only by analyzing a standard ECG. That’s how it is. A five -minute cardiac proof that probably had now could unlock information that saves lives if you are looking.

What is structural heart disease and why is it so dangerous?
SHD refers to defects on the walls, valves or cameras of the heart. Some are present at birth. Others develop slowly over time. Anyway, something important, such as a heart attack or a stroke. That is why experts sometimes call “hidden” heart disease. Here is the problem. Even ECG doctors use routinely to detect heart problems often cannot detect SHD on their own. And that’s where Echext enters.
What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
Echonext: the AI who knows when to deepen
Echonext was created by researchers from Columbia and Newyork-Presbyterian University. The tool was trained in more than 1.2 million ECG pairs and echocardiogram of more than 230,000 patients. Your work? Discover when the ECG of a patient suggests a deeper aspect, specifically, an echocardiogram, the ultrasound that gives a detailed vision of the cardiac structure.
“Echonext basically uses the cheapest test to discover who needs the most expensive,” said Dr. Pierre Elias, who directed the study.
And the results? Awesome.

Echonext beat human cardiologists
In the tests, Echonext correctly marked 77% of the cases of structural heart diseases of ECG. Cardiologists? Only 64%. Even more impressive, when analyzed in almost 85,000 people, Echonext identified more than 7,500 at high risk of non -diagnosed SHD. A year later, the researchers found that 73% of those who continued with echocardiograms were diagnosed with SHD, a rate well above the average. These innovative results were published in Nature, one of the most respected scientific journals in the world. That is not just a better test. That is a potential lifeguard.

Why does this matter more than ever
Millions walk every day with SHD and have no idea. Heart projections are omitted because nothing feels bad. Even when they get an ECG, subtle warning signals can go unnoticed. Echonext doesn’t strange them. And does not tire or distracted. It’s not about replacing doctors. It’s about giving them a new powerful tool to catch what humans only cannot.

What this means for you
You do not need to wait for symptoms to take the health of the heart seriously. If you have ever had an ECG, or you will receive one soon, AI could now help detect hidden risks that your doctor could get lost. Tools such as Echonext facilitate early heart problems, even if you feel good.
This means less surprises, less lost diagnoses and a better opportunity for treatment before it is too late. It’s not about replacing doctors. It’s about giving them, and you, a better opportunity to catch early problems. Ask your doctor if AI tools are being used to review your cardiac tests. You deserve all the advantages. At this time, Echonext is being used in research environments, but tools like this are quickly moving towards broader use in hospitals and clinics.

Kurt’s Key Takeways
The AI is no longer the future of medicine. It is happening now. Echonext demonstrates that automatic learning can radically improve the way we detect silent murderers as SHD. If a simple ECG more could save thousands of lives, what are we waiting for?
