Andy Cohen has some ideas about what News There could be Made instead of canceling “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.

News said in a shock statement announcing the news last week that the measure was “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in Late Night” and had nothing to do with the pending fusion of the parent company Paramount.

But Cohen, who knows one or two things about the network television, said there are some steps that the network could have taken before eliminating the program, which, according to reports, costs News $ 40 million in losses per year.

“I think it is possible that he is losing money,” Cohen said about “Andy Cohen Live” by Siriusxmm on Monday, before revealing what News could have done “if a program is losing money that is also very important for the network.”

“They would probably do so: ‘Listen, Stephen, your program is losing x amount of money a year. There are two things that we could do,” Cohen said. “‘We could reduce the budget by half, maybe move from the Ed Sullivan theater, make the show in a small study that we already have’ because News has a lot of study space.”

The executive producer shared that they could then have “reduced staff” and easily made adjustments to the Colbert filming calendar.

“You have 200 people working here. We need 100 people or 60,” he said.

“And instead of doing your program five days a week, we will do your program four days a week and you will start your show on Thursdays, so you will actually be in production three days a week,” Cohen explained, and added “that is a way there to reduce the budget at least by half.”

Cohen added that, usually, a network would give a host or a show time to make the improvements, and then reassess the program’s position.

“On the other hand, they are exciting the lights completely at 11:30, what he says, is as if News were cooked,” he said. “They are saying: ‘We have ended’.”
