Anna Wintour gives her true opinion about the representation of Diable Wears Prada
It would be understandable if Anna Wintour had complicated feelings about “the devil uses Prada.”
The film, which is based on a book, was written by the former assistant of the editor in Chief of Vogue, Lauren Weisberger, and does not always show the main boss under the most flattering light.
But in an interview with the New York editor David Remnick earlier this month, Wintour shared his surprising version of the 2006 film, which is currently filming a sequel in New York.
“I went to the premiere with Prada, completely without having an idea what the movie was going to be,” Wintour told Remnick in his podcast.
“I think the fashion industry was very worried about me for the movie, that I was going to paint some kind of difficult light,” he said, added that he looks at representation as a “cartoon.”

“I found it very nice. It was very fun,” Wintour said about the movie. “Miuccia [Prada] And I speak it a lot and I say: “Well, it was really good for you.”
The movie “had a lot of humor,” he added.
“He had a lot of ingenuity. He had Meryl Streep. I mean, it was Emily Blunt, everyone was incredible,” he said. “In the end, I thought it was a fair shot.”
Last year, Wintour told the BBC that it was “for the audience and for the people I work with to decide if there is any similarity between Miranda and Priest,” according to the reports, the character is based on it.
The fashion titan has previously spoken about parts of the film that found fair, and that he even liked, during a 2009 interview with David Letterman.
“It seems to remember that the film was actually fiction, and we really like fiction in Vogue,” he joked.

“As my editor says in the movie, I am not always warm and tender, but I appreciate the wonderful work: good work, creative people with talent,” Wintour added. “And what I liked about the movie is that he really showed all the hard work dedicated to the realization of the magazine.”
