Sydney — A lawmaker in Australia was left in complete disbelief when, after going out to eat with his partner, he checked the pet camera feed on his phone and discovered that his dogs had let a steer and a horse into his living room.
Andrew Mackay, a Northern Territory politician, posted the incriminating evidence (with an added comedy theme song) from his security camera on his Facebook page over the weekend, signaling that life in his rural home may never be the same again.
“Thankfully all the pets were fine, but now the animals outside know what air conditioning feels like and will definitely try it again,” Mackay said.
The video shows their two dogs, with a stray named Thunder in the lead, opening a sliding door with their nose to get out into the yard.
Shortly afterwards, a castrated steer or bull, named Sue, cautiously enters the Darwin house. He is followed by a pet horse, Cricket, who smells good on a couch.

At the end of the video, Mackay can be seen standing at the door, inspecting the damage, while one of the dogs pets him.
The animals embarked on their getaway while Mackay and his fiancée went out to eat. The couple rushed home after the lawmaker checked their pet camera remotely and noticed “a cow’s head moving in the frame.”
“And then we discovered that about 10 minutes after we left for dinner, the dogs had decided to open the glass door with their snouts and get out,” he told the French news agency News.
Shortly after, the steer, scratching his neck on the door, accidentally opened it all the way, allowing him and the horse to enter.
“For the next hour and a half, they took turns playing inside, knocking things out of the cabinets,” Mackay said.
The horse found a bowl of vegetable scraps intended for the chickens and threw the pieces across the room.
“They have wiped out the fish tank and I don’t know how many fish it had before, but I guess they are still alive,” he added. “But it did drop water in a considerable amount.”
