Bad Bunny used one of his Grammy Awards on Sunday as an opportunity to make a bold statement against President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigrants.

The Latin music superstar, originally from Puerto Rico, won the Grammy for Best Urban Music Album for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” His subsequent acceptance speech was brief and to the point.

“Before I thank God, I’m going to say: ICE out,” he said, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “We are not savages. We are not animals. We are not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”

“Hate becomes more powerful with more hate,” he continued. “The only thing more powerful than hate is love. So please, we have to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. Yes. We don’t hate them. We love our people, we love our family, and that’s the way to do it, with love. Don’t forget that, please.”

The all-star crowd, some of whom wore “ICE Out” badges, responded to Bad Bunny’s comments with a standing ovation.

Last year, Bad Bunny admitted that he had chosen to skip the American venues on his I Should Shoot More Photos tour for fear that his fans would be attacked by ICE.

“There was the issue that damn ICE might be outside. [my concert]”, he told iD shortly before starting the tour in the Dominican Republic. “And it’s something that we were talking about and that worried us a lot.”

His stance, of course, has not gone unnoticed by Trump supporters. Many have directed their criticism at the NFL after it was announced that Bad Bunny would headline the Super Bowl halftime show on February 8.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, however, supported the decision and said he was “confident it will be a great show.”

“He is one of the most important and popular artists in the world,” he told The News. “That’s what we’re trying to achieve. It’s an important milestone for us. It’s an important element of the entertainment value.”
