Bernie Sanders does not

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) says he doesn’t know “what world” President Donald Trump lives in after the political leader shared a bizarre AI video of himself piloting a plane and spewing what appeared to be feces. “No Kings” protesters during the weekend.

Appearing on “The View” on Monday, Sanders criticized Trump for attacking protesters on social media after he was asked what he thinks the “end game” will be between Republicans and Democrats amid the current government shutdown.

“The bottom line is, look, Trump may be crazy, and he may be a liar, and he may be… I mean, it’s hard to imagine a president; I mean, I don’t know what world these guys live in. President of the United States throwing feces in an American city,” Sanders said.

Sanders added that Republicans are “not stupid” and said they are currently “hiding” as a tactic during the shutdown, which began Oct. 1.

“Why do you think Republicans are hiding right now?” asked. “Mike Johnson, the speaker, has given them their fifth week of vacation. They’re not coming to work.”

Sanders added: “Do they want to negotiate? They’re not there. That’s fine. So I think when people across this country see these ads saying, ‘I can’t pay double my health insurance premiums,’ Republicans will understand and come to the table.”

The shutdown was prompted in part by a partisan argument over health insurance subsidies from the Affordable Care Act that are set to expire at the end of the year. If Congress does not reach a decision soon, premiums will double, on average, for more than 20 million people.
