“When I began to cheer up, I had all the chances against me,” St. Cyr wrote on a Facebook post on March 25. “So much setback, so many people tell me that it was not a space for me. But I struggled for what I loved and ended up being a very successful animator, winning state and national titles and inspiring people to join even if they had not been doing it all their lives.

“I feel a similar trajectory on my continuous trip with competitions. I think I have everything I need to be Miss Maine USA and I know that no amount of experience can match a true passion and impulse to achieve something.”

Maine has been a battlefield for the current national conflict between blue state officials and the Federal Government on the issue of Trans athletes in women’s sports and girls since February.

Governor Janet Mills and education officials have taken a difficult position to allow trans inclusion in the immense federal pressure by the administration of President Donald Trump.

The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the State on the subject.

Hudson is competing to represent Maine’s fishing families after her family’s fishing business declared bankruptcy when she was a child.

“As daughter of displaced fishermen, I care to use my voice to protect the fleeting tradition and heritage of Maine’s fishing families, to prevent others from going through the same difficult situation as what mine had to happen,” Hudson wrote on Instagram.

On Saturday afternoon, Maine’s online voting page was blocked, so the updated results are unknown.

The most recent leader in online vote before the accident was the student of the University of Southern Maine, Lexi Bjork, with more than 1,400 votes.
