Bill Maher dishes at dinner with Trump, calls him
Bill Maher reported his recent White House dinner with President Donald Trump in a long monologue on Friday in the “real time” of HBO, and as he suggested his previous comments about the sitting, the critic for a long time fell something in love with the leader of Maga.
“Let me say first that, to all the people who treated this as if it were a kind of summit meeting, you are ridiculous,” Maher said Friday at the top of his monologue. “As if I were going to sign a treaty or something? I have no power. I am a damn comedian.”
The Democratic expert sat in a stool for the “Maher is going to Washington” and presented a role with all the insults Trump has thrown in the past, and happily announced that the president signed him during his meeting “12 days ago.”
The moment caused rabid cheers of an audience, which has heard Maher criticize Trump for more than a decade. Maher confirmed last month that his meeting was officially scheduled, and prevented the reaction at that time by saying: “Jódete”.
“You can hate me for that, but I’m not a liar,” Maher said Friday. “Trump was kind and measured. And why isn’t that in other environments, I don’t know, and I can’t answer and it’s not my place to answer. I’m just telling you what I saw, and I wasn’t drugged.”

Trump announced steep international tariffs on all imports to the United States a few days after the meeting. The statement changed the markets and caused fears of a global recession, only for Trump to revert the course on most affected nations, except China.
Maher significantly supported Democratic candidates as former President Barack Obama and former state secretary Hillary Clinton in the past elections, but also frequently criticized his party for various policies and debatable failures in messaging or deaf narratives.
While recently confirmed that he will not join the Republican Party, Maher was delighted by Trump.
“I never felt that I had to walk on egg shells around him,” he said Friday. “And, honestly, I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them in the way I could talk to Donald Trump. This is how it was reduced. Make what you will do.”
“I feel it is emblematic why the Democrats are so unpopular these days,” said Maher.
Maher previously shed light on the meeting in his podcast “Club Random” and said at that time that Trump is “one of the most effective politicians.” On Friday, he said he kept Trump’s feet in the fire on floating a possible third unconstitutional presidential term.

“At one point, I said: ‘You’re scaring people. Do you really want to scare your own citizens so much?'” Maher said during his monologue. “And I know everyone says: ‘And what did he say to that?’ Honestly, I don’t remember.
“So Maga fans don’t worry,” he continued. “Your son did not give me anything, just hats. Hats and a very generous amount of time and a willingness to listen to me and accept me as a possible friend, even though I am not a magician, which was the point of dinner.”
