Bill Maher stunned after Lara Trump asks if Trump’s Piggy comment is real

Bill Maher was left stunned after Lara Trump refused to admit that her father-in-law called a journalist a “piggy” in a recent exchange aboard Air Force One that sparked widespread backlash.

President Donald Trump was speaking to reporters on Nov. 14 when Bloomberg White House correspondent Catherine Lucey asked him about Epstein’s files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“Hush, hush, little pig,” he replied, pointing his finger at her.

During Monday’s episode of Maher’s “Random club,” the comedian argued that Trump’s incendiary comments, like the insult “little pig,” have made it harder for him to convince liberals to engage more with conservatives, particularly during the holiday season.

Maher made the comment after mentioning earlier on the show that he is writing an editorial about how the left and the Republican Party can bury the hatchet and come together to spend time with their families over the holidays, even if they have opposing political beliefs.

“Don’t do things like call a woman a ‘little pig,’” he said of the right-wing leader.

“Do we know that happened?” Lara, Eric Trump’s wife, responded quickly.

Maher exclaimed: “I saw it on tape! A thousand [times].”

“Or did you say McGee?” Lara questioned laughing while Maher regretted his answer.

Despite extensive records of the incident, the former co-chairman of the Republican National Committee sought to downplay Trump’s pattern of attacking the press, claiming he is “an equal opportunity violator.” Lara then referenced Trump’s criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Mentioning his editorial again, Maher stated that although it focuses on “mostly liberals” who need to “make an effort” to enjoy dinner with their families, Trump’s controversial speech does not make things easier.

“Here I am working on this Friday editorial about how it’s mostly liberals who have to get over themselves and eat with their families, even the ones who are Trump voters,” Maher explained. “It just makes my job harder… when you call a woman ‘pig’.”

The political commentator added: “Even you have to admit that this is simply not right, it is not necessary.”

“Donald Trump is not perfect,” Lara told Maher. “But he does a lot of things that I think are great. And I think, in general, you have to take the good with the bad.”

Last week, the White House defended Trump’s verbal abuse of Lucey while criticizing the journalist.

“This reporter behaved inappropriately and unprofessionally with her colleagues on the plane,” an official said in a statement. “If you’re going to give it, you have to be able to receive it.”

Meanwhile, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt argued that journalists should be grateful to have a “frank” and “honest” president like Trump, who hurls insults directly in their faces. He also called former President Joe Biden a liar.

“I think being up front and open and honest with you instead of hiding behind your back is, frankly, much more respectful than what you saw in the last administration, where you had a president who lied to your face and didn’t speak to you for weeks,” he said.

Leavitt also blamed “fake news” reporters for angering the president.

“He denounces fake news when he sees it,” he added. “He gets frustrated with journalists when they lie about him, when they spread false news about him and his administration.”
