Tel Aviv, Israel -Israel has recovered the bodies of two Israeli-American hostages who were killed, and their bodies took, in Hamas’ on October 7, 2023, a terrorist attack that ignited the War in Gaza’s stripIsraeli military and intelligence services said Thursday. Weinstein was born in New York and showed English to children with special needs in Kibbutz Nir Oz, a small community near the border of Gaza. The Kibbutz said that he also taught meditation techniques to children and adolescents who suffered anxiety as a result of Gaza’s rocket fire. Haggai was a retired chef and jazz musician.
“My beautiful parents have been released. We are certain,” wrote his daughter, Iris Haggai Liniado, in a message posted on social networks. The United States, Egypt and Qatar have been trying to negotiate another fire and the release of hostages after Israel finished a previous truce in March and imposed a block that generated famine fears, despite being relieved in recent weeks. But conversations seem to be blocked.
Hamas says that he will only release the remaining hostages in exchange for more Palestinian prisoners, a high durable fire and an Israeli retreat from Gaza. He has offered to deliver power to a politically independent Palestinian committee.
Netanyahu has rejected those terms, saying that Israel will only accept temporary cessation to facilitate the return of the hostages. He has promised to continue war until all hostages are returned and Hamas is defeated or disarmed and sent into exile.
He said that Israel will maintain control over Gaza indefinitely and will facilitate what it refers to as the voluntary emigration of much of its population to other countries. The Palestinians and much of the international community have rejected such plans, considering them as a forced expulsion that could violate international law.
