Christie Brinkley says that this 1 factor condemned her relationship with Billy Joel
Christie Brinkley opened about her rock marriage with Billy Joel in a new documentary about the life of the iconic musician.
The model married Joel in 1985, and the two welcomed her only son, Alexa, later that year.
Brinkley said he tried to make his relationship with Joel work, but there was one thing that stood on the way.

“I don’t think it’s a secret that its alcohol consumption became quite bad,” Brinkley said in part 2 of the musician’s new HBO documentary, “Billy Joel: And so he leaves.” She said the singer “really couldn’t remember what he was doing when he was drinking, so he really didn’t know how he could hurt people.”
During a particularly stressful period of financial agitation and tours of Joel, Brinkley said that “he unravels a lot in his life.”
She would call bars to find out where Joel was, and she would pretend to be sleeping when he came in some nights, so she could avoid seeing him “in that condition.”
“Our relationship went from a lot of fun and really, enjoying totally and everything, to his work that consumed it,” the model shared. Brinkley said he didn’t know what to do, but he decided that he couldn’t “be alone.”
It was only his “and Alexa in this great old house that was supposed to be so full of life, love and music and laughs and all that,” Brinkley said as he began to cry.
The model said that “things were starting to deteriorate” and then a fight sealed the deal.

“One night, we had an argument and said: ‘I really can’t stand this, and I’m going to take Alexa back to New York and go,” he recalled. “And he said: ‘Yes, well, go'”.
The two divorced in 1994, and Joel revealed what he took at the end of his marriage.
“I realized that love is not concrete,” said the musician. “You know, you feel it is, but there are things that are eating. And, in the end, everything is updated. And it is difficult. And it was very devastated.”
Brinkley has talked about the drink before Joel in his recently published memoirs, “Uptown Girl”.
“Alcohol consumption was bigger than the two. Boze was the other woman and began to seem that I preferred to be with her instead of me,” he said.
The 71 -year -old told Page Six in April that “leaving Billy is not easy for me.”
