CNN’s Scott Jennings met with News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss this week, signaling a possible move toward the right-turn network, Semafor reported.

Jennings, who served under former President George W. Bush, has provided a controversial opposition voice on CNN. The media frequently covers his discussions with other panelists on Abby Phillip’s “NewsNight” and other programs.

His status as a sort of Republican “heel” at CNN could be a good fit for News, which is showing signs of a friendlier approach toward President Donald Trump.

Jennings is not a full-time CNN employee and is free to meet with competitors, a source told News themezone.

Weiss is believed to have been hired to solidify News’ more conservative leadership. The network bowed to the president by paying him $16 million to settle his questionable claim that “60 Minutes” edited an interview with Kamala Harris to improve its prospects ahead of the 2024 election.

That apparently paved the way for the Trump administration to approve the merger of News parent Paramount with Skydance Media.

On Monday, “News Evening News” co-anchor John Dickerson announced he would be leaving the network at the end of the year, but did not explain why.

Jennings indirectly made headlines earlier this week when MSNBC rival Lawrence O’Donnell criticized CNN CEO Mark Thompson, “who thinks paying Scott Jennings to lie about Donald Trump is money well spent.”

News was also reportedly interested in News host Bret Baier, but said he was “very happy” at News. He is under contract at News through the end of 2028.
