CNN Star announces the game in the middle of the report that was fired
Alex Marquardt, the main national security correspondent for CNN, announced Monday that he was “leaving” the news network: but a state report said he was “fired.”
“Some personal news: I leave CNN after 8 excellent years,” Marquardt wrote in X, previously Twitter. “It is difficult to say goodbye, but it has been an honor to work among the best in the business. Deep thanks to my comrades in the national security team and the phenomenal teammates with which I have worked in the United States and abroad.”
Marquardt helped lead the coverage of the war in Ukraine (where he was when Russia invaded), the insurrection of the Capitol, Black Lives Matter’s protests and other important stories in his second period with CNN, which began in 2017. In his previous time, he was integrated into the campaigns during the 2008 presidential race.
But its end with the network on Monday came immediately after its reports on a story that resulted in a defeat of demand for CNN. Marquardt was the producer in a report on the smuggling of “black market” of Afghans outside the country amid the United States withdrawal in 2021.

A United States Navy veteran who was mentioned in the report said CNN ruined his business by showing his photo on the screen. The veteran said that his company attacked the sponsors who could pay the rates, not the impoverished Afghans. In January, a jury ruled that CNN was defamed and granted him $ 5 million in damages. CNN then settled with the man for which he could have included more punitive damage.
A CNN spokesman confirmed Marquardt’s departure to News themezone, but rejected more comments since it is a personal issue.

The former CNN Media Oliver Darcy reporter from Status wrote that Marquardt was abruptly fired, which did not mention colleagues in a network memorandum.
News themezone also contacted Marquardt on Tuesday early, but did not receive an immediate response.
