Colombia Presidential Esperanza Miguel Uribe Turbay dies weeks after filming a campaign rally

The Colombian and applicant presidential senator Miguel Uribe Turbay died on Monday, more than two months after receiving a shot during a campaign demonstration in western Bogotá.
His wife, María Claudia Tarazona, confirmed the death of the 39 -year -old woman at dawn on Monday.
Uribe Turbay was critical wounded on June 7 during a campaign rally in the capital of the country, suffering from gunshot wounds and leg. He underwent emergency surgery and remained hospitalized in intensive care until his death.
“You will always be the love of my life,” said his wife, Maria Claudia Tarazona, on early Instagram on Monday. “Thank you for a life full of love, thank you for being the father of the girls, Alejandro’s best father.”

A suspect teenager was arrested on the scene, and the authorities have arrested several others. Last month, police arrested to the alleged intellectual author OF THE ATTACK – Elder José Arteaga Hernández, Who Uses The Aliasses “Chipi” Or “Costeño.”
The incident has raised renewed concerns about political violence in the country.
The reason for the shooting is still being investigated. In October, Uribe announced his intention to run in the 2026 presidential elections in Colombia. From his seat in the Senate, he had become one of President Gustavo Petro’s most vowel critics.
The attack has been widely condemned in a country with a dark past in which drug cartels and insurgant groups murdered and kidnapped politicians. Uribe is the son of a journalist who was kidnapped and killed during one of the most violent periods in the country in 1991.
Shortly after the shooting, Secretary of State Marco Rubio The United States said “condemns the attempt at murder” in the strongest terms and described the attack “a direct threat to democracy.” He blamed “violent leftist rhetoric from the highest levels of the Colombian government” for the shooting.
